I went to the auto show.  I took a lot of photos. It has taken me a while to get to them.    Better late than never?

Aptera has been very quiet since participating (but not finishing) in the Progressive Automotive X-Prize competition.  After a very promising early start, and lots of great media coverage, Aptera went through a management shake-up, and now appears to be starving slowly.  Without government loans to develop their product, or a large angel investor to come in and rescue them, they seem to be adrift.

You know it is bad when the fans, some of whom have put down actual deposits, are losing faith.  Look at this poll on the unofficial Aptera forums.  As of now the 68% of the responses say that they don't think they will ever get their car.

I went to my local Walmart today, to grab some assorted stuff. The place was packed, on a Sunday afternoon, with people of all backgrounds.

Interestingly, I saw a few cars with Obama stickers in the parking lot, and this made me wonder. Isn’t this ironic? The left in general, including Obama, have long been pounding Walmart for their resistance to labor unions. Walmart has been accused of squeezing suppliers, being stingy with health insurance for its employees, and many other sins. So why are Obama people shopping at Walmart?

Could it be the low prices?

And what will happen those low prices, if Obama and the majority Democrat congress have their way, and make it easier for unions to organize by eliminating secret ballots and instituting card check elections? Aren’t Obama’s supporters trying to undermine the very thing they are using to save money?

And have you noticed, how some liberals, would-be defenders of the “working people” love to hammer Walmart as being a “white trash” magnet. But isn’t it the “working people” who shop at Walmart, to stretch their paychecks further? And the very phrase “white trash” is inherently racist, because of the implied contrast to non-white trash.

Kroger, which is unionized, does not have elderly or disabled folks employed as greeters and return checkers, while my local Walmart does. Kroger’s employees have gone on strike, causing inconvenience to their customers.

I am unrepentant Walmart shopper. I don’t care if I am seen as downwardly mobile by my high-brow neighbors. I often shop at Target, the darling of the bargain hunting style conscious types, but I will not avoid Walmart if they have something I need.

Where else can you go to buy a wireless G router, and also score a good deal on pickles, pumpkin pie components, 9mm ammunition, toothpaste, and motor oil?

The Pagani Zonda F has more air intake in front, making its cooling system very effective. Thus, its V12 engine enjoys a much cooler state due to the car’s design. This Mercedes Benz engine holds a capacity of 7.3 liters and reaches 620 bhp and emits a 561 pound foot torque at 4000 rpm. The chassis of the Zonda F is upgraded to make it lighter compared to other super cars. The large ceramic brakes get more room as the new wheels measure only 19 and 20 inches. Overall, its weight is at 1,230 kilograms together with its titanium nuts and carbon fiber tub trimmings.

The Detroit news is reporting that Lincoln is advertising some of its products on Amazon.com. They are displayed as a normal order-able Amazon item, except that instead of a “buy it” link there is a “Reserve” link, which takes you to Lincoln.com.

See The Lincoln MKX on Amazon

I think this is a silly tactic, and one that has a real danger of back-firing. In general, Amazon allows customers to post negative reviews of products if they are reasonably written. Like any other item, it appears that users can comment on the Lincoln vehicles and give them star ratings. You can’t really order a Lincoln from Amazon, and you don’t save any money, which is Amazon’s big draw. You also can’t cross-shop other cars.

People are not going to go and email each other, “hey, did you see that new Lincoln on Amazon? $ 25 shipping!”.
